Leandra Webbe, Gabriel Howell set new records in Cross Country Race

    CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – AS a forerunner of its annual sports meet, Ivor Walters Primary School held its Cross Country Road Run on Thursday morning (Feb. 18) for Kindergarten boys and girls as well as pupils from Grade One to Grade Six.

     

    Under the spotlight were Leandra Webbe and Gabriel Howell, both of whom have set new records in their respective category.

     

    Breasting the tape in a time of 4:23:00, Webbe of Gold House broke the long-standing Kindergarten Girls’ record by 26 seconds; Azahriah Isles and Alyssa Farrell, both of Red House, occupied the First and Second Runner-up positions respectively.

     

    In the boys’ category, Roberto Chapman of Gold House ran a time of 4:26:10 to win the event, while Kaleb Woolward and Trevon Donrod, both of Green House, took the prizes for second and third respectively.

     

    In the girls’ Grade One to Two run, Alyssa Thompson of Green House first crossed the finish line. She clocked 8:08:88 and was followed by Beyonce Prass of Gold House and Green House’s Treasure Ward in that order.

     

    Howell broke the boys’ record in this division which stood at 7:44:57. He chipped 0:14:10 off the previous record. Dijari Mills took the First Runner-up position and Rasean Browne captured the Second. All three athletes represented Red House.

     

    Kytana Richards of Red House was victorious with a time of 14:52:94 for the bigger girls. She whipped Kishona Brooks and Orlesia Tyson, both of Green House into second and third place respectively.

     

    And for the older boys, Tyrique Johnson of Red House ran a time of 12:26:05 ahead of Green House’s Ossie Brute, who was followed by Troy Weekes of Gold House.

     

    The Ivor Walters Primary School annual Sports Meet will be held at Elquemedo Willett Park, formally known as Grove Park on Friday, March 5.
