~~Adz:Left~~Basseterre, St. Kitts (July 03, 2006): An "Adolescents Speak," workshop is one solution to the outcome of an Adolescent Obesity Survey which revealed that young people do not have enough fruit and vegetables as a part of their diet.
"Adolescents Speak" has the objective of providing youth of St. Kitts and Nevis the tools with which to develop promotional messages aimed at motivating their peers in St. Kitts and Nevis to increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables.  Youth aged 13 to 15 years will thus meet July 03 and 04 at the McKnight Community Centre where they will create slogans to achieve this end.

Activities over the two-day period will take the form of presentations and group work and plenary discussions.  Topics include: Overview of Health Problems among Adolescents in St. Kitts and Nevis, Barriers to Healthy Eating among Adolescents in St. Kitts and Nevis and Getting it Done  Message Development.

The two-day workshop which runs from July 03 to 04 is being conducted by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute (CFNI) and the Ministry of Education.
