    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 5TH 2006 
     - St. Kitts and Nevis' Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has congratulated the new Prime Minister of Japan.

    "I heartily welcomed you to the distinguished post of Prime Minister and extend best wishes to you and your Cabinet, as you take the helm of the great dynamic nation of Japan.

     In my own experience as Prime Minister, I have found it to be both challenging and rewarding and I trust that your experience will be similar," Dr. Douglas told the new Japanese leader, His Excellency ShinzoAbe, in a congratulatory message.
     
    Dr. Douglas commended the new Japanese leader for his "drive towards ensuring security, strengthening and improve relations with neighbours and friends and, greater economic growth and fiscal reform for the betterment of the lives of Japanese people and by extension the global community."
     
    The St. Kitts and Nevis leader hoped that the faith and trust placed in him by former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi "strengthen your resolve to pursue these worthwhile goals and forge a brighter future."
     
    New Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Shinzo Abe 



    Dr. Douglas told Prime Minister Abe that the Governments of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Kingdom of Japan  "have always closely engaged each other in the interest of all our peoples and I look forward to the continuation of this spirit of collaboration and mutual respect and understanding."
