Parliamentary Representative Hon. Jacinth Henry-Martin addresses press at ceremony.
Basseterre, St. Kitts (March 05, 2004):
The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is ensuring that the spinoff effects from its ambitious housing programme spreads to various sectors.

In a ceremony held on March 3 at the National Housing Corporation several local contractors signed the documents to construct homes in the Sandy Point area. The ceremony was witnessed by the parliamentary representative for the area Hon. Jacinth Henry-Martin who noted that this was a part of government’s policy to empower citizens.

“Sandy Point is now on track for the construction of 50 homes that will be part of one of the many phases that the government intends to initiate in the bid to satisfy the housing demand,” she said.

This programme will target lower income bracket earners. The construction project will centre around the Farms area in the community and will be built by Sandy Pointers. Minister Henry-Martin said that the programme will cater to the non-land and land owners.

Approximately 30 houses will be constructed on the newly cleared project area while the
