BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JAMAICAN reggae legend Freddie McGregor urged the youths of St. Kitts and Nevis to promote peace, love and unity and to turn their backs on crime and violence.

McGregor was at the time entertaining hundreds of people who attended the People’s Action Movement (PAM) “On the road to victory Rally”, held on Saturday night (June 6) at the Greenlands Pasture.

The Rally, originally scheduled for the Five Ways Junction, was moved to the Greenlands pasture and, according to an official of the party, the change was necessary to accommodate the expected massive crowd of supporters and well-wishers that attended the historic event.

It was minutes after 10: p.m. when McGregor went onstage and belted out a number of his hits, including ‘Put the blame on me’, ‘So many people wanna see me’, ‘Let him try’, ‘Alright’, ‘Africa’, and ‘I am a winner’, within which he inserted the word PAM to some of them.

Speaking on the issue of crime and violence McGregor said a few words to the youths in attendance, urging them to promote peace, love and unity.

The reggae singer performed for about 30 minutes and, shortly after, the Grandmasters Band took the stage singing ‘I want change’, the first of other campaign songs to come.

The early part of the evening also saw Sweet Sister Sensia, DJ Yardy and DJ Fresh entertaining the crow,, and the curtains came down on the event sometime after 2:00 a.m. with the Grandmasters Band.
