Wednesday, March 1, 2017 – For the third consecutive year, NAGICO Insurance has signed a sponsorship agreement with Reuben Stoby, the reigning two-time Road Racing Athlete of the Year for the Virgin Islands.
Reuben is the reigning 2-mile, 5K and 10K champion of the BVI and aspires to compete in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. He finished 2016 in tremendous form, which earned him the Road Racing Athlete of the year for the second consecutive year.
“NAGICO continues to be impressed by Reuben’s remarkable journey towards achieving his own personal goals. We admire his preservation through hard work, dedication and his commitment every year. NAGICO is pleased to be a part of his continued growth by resigning our sponsorship agreement,” said Mr. Shan Mohamed, Managing Director.
Reuben said, “I am again filled with gratitude for the continued sponsorship of NAGICO Insurance.
According to the 2016 Cross Country Champion, he will continue to give of his best in training and competitions to ensure that the NAGICO partnership remains a winning one.
“NAGICO’s support reminds me that there are people who care and wish to see us succeed in our ambitions. I am also thrilled that I am one of many that NAGICO has reached out to with their corporate support,” Stoby stated.
Previously, NAGICO sponsored Reuben as he competed in the Antigua Half Marathon in May, 2016 where he placed 5th. He also made his debut on the track in July 2016 when he competed in the 5000m at the OECS Track & Field Championships in the BVI, placing sixth.
NAGICO has been very supportive of the long-distance runner with staff attending the races during the past year to provide encouragement and morale support.
NAGICO continues to demonstrate good corporate responsibility through contributions to cricket, squash, tennis, music, among others.
The company has been a long-time partner of the community groups, including the Rotary Clubs of the BVI, Family Support Network, BVI Cancer Society, BVI Red Cross, the BVI HIV/AIDS Foundation and has also adopted the Isabella Morris Primary School as part of its wider support for education in the Virgin Islands.
