CASTRIES, St. Lucia – THE Castries community was left shaken following the shooting death of a 26-year-old male, which marked the ninth murder to have occurred in St. Lucia for the year.
Dead is Jonathan ‘Snouty’ Kennedy Richardson, whose bullet-riddled body was found by police lying in a drain in an area known as Water Works, Castries. The incident occurred sometime during Thursday morning(June 4).
Some agree that the situation could have been worse had Richardson not dropped off his child just a short while before being gunned down in cold blood.
The Royal St. Lucia Police Force is making investigations into the occurrence and is endeavouring to ascertain whether or not it is related to another shooting incident which occurred earlier that morning. During that incident, reports indicate that gunmen converged on the area and commenced firing countless bullets.
According to www.stlucianewsonline.com a one-and-a-half-year-old child, Delana, was injured during the earlier incident when one of the bullets grazed her right earlobe while she was asleep at her father’s residence.
“The baby was at the time lying inside the same house that had come under fire during the wee hours of Thursday morning.” She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The www.stlucianewsonline.com informs that Assistant Commissioner of Police for Crime, Vernon Francois, has called upon the public to lend its assistance and support to the law enforcement body as it seeks to solve this crime; support which he says is vital to the solving of the case.
Thus far, there have been no arrests relative to the murder.
