BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, March 24, 2017 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- Energised members of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) from the different Constituency branches on St. Kitts met Thursday evening (March 23) to fine-tune the final preparations for the hosting of the inaugural National Convention that will be held on Saturday March 25.

They packed the OOJJ’s Conference Centre in West Basseterre where they were addressed by the party’s Political Leader, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, who is also the Federation’s Prime Minister, in a lively session that included questions that were eloquently answered by the Party Leader.

Dr Harris was accompanied by the PLP’s Deputy Chairman Mr Craig Tuckett, PLP’s Communications Director Mrs Akila Byron-Nisbett, Chairman of PLP’s Convention Organising Committee Mr Alexis Nisbett, and overseas delegate Mr Alva Pemberton. Others in attendance included Founding Members and members of the National Committee.

The historic National Convention will be held at the Recreation Grounds in Tabernacle Village where elaborate plans have been laid out to accommodate the hundreds of party members and well-wishers who are expected to grace the occasion which starts at 2:00 pm.

Party Leader and Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris has said that the convention is aimed at strengthening the Team Unity Movement which is a coalition of three parties that came together to contest, and won, the February 16, 2015 General Elections. The other parties are the People’s Action Movement (PAM) of St. Kitts, and the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) of Nevis.

“The leaders of these two parties, the Hon Shawn Richards of PAM and the Hon Vance Amory of the CCM, will be in attendance and will bring fraternal greetings from their respective parties,” the PLP Leader told members of his party at the OOJJ’s Conference Centre.

Other fraternal greetings will be delivered by Mr Alva Pemberton who will be representing the Kittitian and Nevisian Diaspora in the Americas.

A number of musical items will be presented but the main act will be St. Kitts own, Ms Daveda Browne, a US-based award-winning internationally acclaimed musician who will help serenade the delegates at the National Convention.

The Party Leader said that while invitation was open to all members and well-wishers, he advised that for those who would not be able to make it they won’t be left out as the entire public session of the convention will be streamed on video live from 1:00 pm on SKNVibes, YouTube and Facebook via the PLP Facebook page - www.facebook.com/PLPSKN/. WINN FM 98.9 will carry a live stream as from 2:00 pm.
