BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – KITTITIAN soca diva Jacinth ‘Shakki’ Cao said that her recent trip to St. Vincent was successful.

Cao said not only was she well-received with her performance on the night of the show, but she also did a number of networking and promotions while there.

She was invited to perform at a pre-carnival event called Caribbean Soca Explosion, which was organised by Vincy Promotions and held on June 6 at the Victoria Park.

The event featured a number of the region’s top soca acts including Bomani, Zoelah, Lims, Icon, Fire Empress.

“It was tiring but worth it,” she told SKNVibes Pep. “I did a number of promotions at various radio and television stations and met a number of artistes whom I got new ideas from by just speaking to them,” she said.

She said the event had a great turnout, the people were hungry for soca music and they enjoyed her performance when she sang ‘Hello’, ‘Get on so’, ‘DJ Play’ and ‘Like Doves’.

Cao, who is also a member of the d’Vybz Band of St. Kitts, said that she also took the opportunity to promote the band and left their  past carnival albums at radio stations so that St. Vincent and the rest of the Windward Islands could become more familiar with the d’Vybz and their music.

She also made connections with producers while there and said that persons could expect new powerful music from her for National Carnival in December.

“Look out for a few collaborations with regional artistes as well,” she said.

Cao will be a part of the 13th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival and will be performing a solo act on the final night - Saturday, June 27.
