BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO of St. Kitts and Nevis upcoming models will be competing in the Miss Venus Anguilla Pageant on Saturday, June 13.
Tamika Taylor (23) of St. Kitts and Michellette Mills (24) of Nevis will vie for the coveted title among contestants drawn from Anguilla at the Landsome Bowl Cultural Center.
The Miss Venus Anguilla Pageant has been in existence for a number of years and the contestants will be judged in segments including Best Swimsuit, Introductory Speech, Dance and Drama.
The main focus of the competition is the Swimwear segment in which the ladies will showcase two different swimsuits.
The event is sponsored by the Florida-based Venus Swimwear line. The winner of the Swimsuit competition will receive a cash prize of US$10 000.
The two models left over the last weekend for Anguilla, where they will be engaged in a number of activities and promotions before the night of the show.
A number of Kittitian and Nevisian models have also participated in the annual competition, and the 2005 event was won by Cari Nicholas of Nevis.
Local makeup artiste and dance instructor Dwayne Weekes, who also teaches at the Sandy Point High School, is one of the contacts for the pageant and has been assisting the models in preparation for the show.
