KINGSTON, Jamaica - US comedian Cedric the Entertainer will fly to Jamaica to host a charity show that will feature a number of that island’s artistes.
The show, scheduled for June 24 at the Aqueduct, is aimed at raising funds to equip local primary schools with computers and technology learning centres.
Among the acts will be Chalice, Assassin, Tessanne Chin, Ras Penco, J McKay and Sasha Samantha.
According to Jahkno.com, the show is being staged by the Caribbean Classic Golf Invitational (CCGI) Foundation as a part of their annual events featuring a host of local and international celebrities.
The media house added that the CCGI Foundation is focused on creating a platform for leadership development by bridging the technology gap for children with limited resources.
Over the last four years, 60 primary schools have received computers; however, there are over 300 other primary schools in Jamaica that are still in need of a technology learning centre.
Jahkno.com also stated that Richard Stephenson, President of the CCGI Foundation, has expressed that the foundation’s goal in 2009 “is to donate 400 brand new Dell computers to schools where children are in need”.
The show comes as part of the fifth annual Caribbean Classic Golf Invitational (CCGI) which features many top celebrities both in and out of Jamaica, such as Julius ‘Dr. J.’ Erving, Jack Ford, Steve Harvey, Tony Siragusa, Marcus Allen, Bill Bellamy and Anthony Anderson. The events will run from June 24 to 28.
Among the events scheduled to take place during the five-day show are the Welcome Party, the 5th Annual CCGI Amateur Golf Tournament, Champions of Champions II Muay Thai Fight Night/Fashion Show, and Black Tie Gala.
