April 27th, 2017 -- ‘Khyla Kares’ epitomizes the newest charity group in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. This group was launched to the general public on April 21, 2017 and is governed by the motto, “Giving because we Kare.” This charity movement is made up of a group of KAREGIVERS who are committed to touching lives by identifying and assisting with the needs of our communities.

On Saturday 22nd April, a fraction of the team, travelled to Nevis and donated Kare Packages to the residents of the Flamboyant Nursing Home on the island. These packages included but were not limited to toilet papers, soaps, toothpaste, combs and other toiletries.

During the handing over ceremony, Khyla Brown, reigning Ms. Caribbean Culture and Ms. Caribbean Carnival, introduced herself and informed the staff present about the main basis of this new venture which is to help persons in St. Kitts and Nevis and eventually the wider Caribbean. Khyla reminded them that they were well thought of and that these useful resources being presented to them embodies the support and appreciation she wishes to offer. After the presentation, Nurse Powell accepted the donation on behalf of the Nursing Home and expressed sincere thanks to Ms. Brown for her generous contribution to the residents of this organization.

At the end of the ceremony, Khyla and the other KAREGIVERS present were favored with a tour around the home where they explored the different suites and other intricacies of the residence. The day came to an end when the KAREGIVERS distributed meals, fed and mingled with the residents of the home during their lunch period. During such period, Khyla was moved to tears by the fragility of the residents and continually exclaimed how emotional this experience was for her.

This inaugural event was merely a microscopic view of the other projects to be rolled out in the not too distant future. To keep abreast of the events, follow Khyla Kares on Facebook and to assist with sponsorship for upcoming events, contact us at 869-762-6202.
