Man injured in Ferry Terminal shooting incident

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A young man was shot to the ankle this afternoon (May 11) in the vicinity of the Basseterre Ferry Terminal and was transported to the JNF General Hospital, where he was treated for the injury.

     

    Information reaching SKNVibes stated that the incident occurred some time after 4:00 p.m. while the rain was falling.

    According to eyewitness report, a young man, dressed in a skirt and other female attire including a wig, had exited a rental motorcar and fired one shot at another young male, striking him to the ankle.

    The report also stated that gunman attempted to fire more shots at the man but the “gun jammed and the shooting victim ran away”.

    It further stated that “the gunman also started to run away from the scene and the gun fell out of his hand. He momentarily stopped to retrieve it and continued to run until he boarded the rental and drove away”.

    A police release had informed that officers from Basseterre Police Station, the Violent Crimes Unit and the Special Services Unit responded, along with technicians from the Forensics Services Unit who canvassed the scene and collected items of evidential value. 

    “We urge anyone who may have information with regards to this incident to come forward. You can do so anonymously by calling any station, Crime Stoppers or by using the SKN Crime Reporter App on your Smartphone,” the release read..

    Investigations into this matter are ongoing.
