Culturama preparations moving apace

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Nevis Culturama Committee is moving full steam ahead with their preparations for the hosting of this year’s Festival and, according to its Marketing Chairperson Huey Sargeant, the 2017 event would be more improved.

Speaking recently with SKNVibes, Sargeant explained that preparations are “going really well” and they are out in the public promoting the event.

The Committee had recently released the calendar of events for the month-long festival; however, changes had to be made owing to a number of private persons having indicated their willingness to promote their activities.

“Some persons came in and indicated that they wanted to put on some activities. And as a progressive committee that we are, we are making the accommodations because at the end of the day persons just want to have a really good time and enjoying the festival.”

Addressing concerns about facilities, Sargeant explained that this year the Committee decided to revamp and renovate the Culturama Village, adding that they had taken out a lot of the old booths and implement changes that would lift the experience of patrons.

The 2017 edition marks the 43rd year of the Festival and the organizers have noted that the Village would take on a similar feel to that of the RAM’S Food Court, where a number of organized booths are in place.

Questioned on what difference the Committee would be providing patrons during the Festival compared to previous years, Sargeant disclosed that there is an all-inclusive fete on the calendar; which means the inclusion of all shows that fans have grown accustomed to see during the event.

“The experience would be different. I can guarantee you that!” Sargeant exclaimed. “It would be a lot more interactive in terms of what have asked for in the past.”

Addressing the issue of controversies, Sargeant declared that the Committee is cognizant of those that occurred in the past and they are working to not have  them repeated.

“From a Culturama standpoint, we have been having meetings with judges and including as many people as possible so that everything is on the table and there is nothing to hide. We are dealing with humans and we are working to eliminate all controversies.”

This year’s event kicks off on July 27 and concludes on August 8.
