BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A young man is in police custody in connection with yesterday’s (Jun. 6) shooting incident in St. Paul’s Village that left one man dead and two others nursing injuries.
Police have reported that the individual is 17 years old and he was taken into custody today for questioning.
The report also stated the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force “registered appreciation to those who provided information with regards to this incident”.
Information reaching SKNVibes, which was confirmed by the police, stated that shortly after mid-day yesterday in Rawlins Ground, St. Paul’s Village, a 32-year-old of Willet’s Project, a 22-year-old male resident of Willet’s Estate and an 18-year-old male resident of Willet’s Project were shot by an unknown assailant or assailants.
The three men were transported to the JNF General Hospital, where Francis succumbed to his injuries.
This incident came three days after businessman Sean Smith (41) of Taylor’s Village and mechanic Dennis ‘Bun Up’ Liburd (46) of Lower Westbourne Street were murdered after being shot in Taylor’s Village, and four days after 37-year-old Lydia Jacobs was shot in the yard of her Grace Development Housing residence in Church Ground and pronounced dead at the Alexandra Hospital in Nevis.
Jahma Francis’ death has taken to 14 the number of homicides committed in the Federation for the year; six on Nevis and eight on St. Kitts.
