Royal Utilities donates to Kim Collins' mother

By: Jermine Abel, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Royal Utilities has prided itself on taking care of its employees, and evidence of this commitment was seen yesterday (Jun.  9) when the business establishment gave back to a family member of one its former staff who is now deceased.

Florence Collins, mother of the late Royston Collins – a former employee of the company – was presented with a LG Flat Screen TV.

Royston Collins – who was the younger brother of Kim Collins - was killed in an apparent hit and run accident in December 2015.

According to reports, the young man was making his way home in the early hours when he was hit by what was believed to be a motorcar in the New Road area.

The then 31-year-old was an employee of the Royal Utilities, an arm of the Marriott Resort.

Speaking about the donation, General Manager of Royal Utilities, Gerry Moise told SKNVibes that his company continues to support Royston’s mother.

He explained that as a result of an unrepairable damage caused to Ms. Collins' television set, the company sprang into action upon hearing of the problem.

“We at Royal Utilities are donating a TV to her. She is such a nice gracious gal and we care very deeply for her, and we want to take care of her.”

According to the GM, despite Royston no longer being with the company, they continue to provide assistance to the family and visiting his mother two to three times per year.

“We always bring food and other stuff for her when we are coming,” he said.

Ms. Collins recently celebrated her 70th birthday and the company gave her a treat, Moise noted, indicating that the male staff members of Royal Utilities cooked, threw a party for her and invited a number of her family members.

Meanwhile, it was lamented that the company misses Royston, as he was described as a hardworking and jovial individual within the work environment.

His sister, Michelle Collins, thanked Moise for the donation and all that the company has done and continues to do for the family.

She indicated that the family misses Royston as he remains in their memories, even though it is more than 17 months since he has died.
