Edwin Yearwood Interview at 10am

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN an effort to promote the upcoming St. Kitts Music Festival, SKNVibes will be conducting live interviews with some of the artistes who are scheduled to perform.

Today, Thursday, June 18, Pep Radio DJ’ Lesley ‘Sugar Bowl’ Morton will interview soca sensation Edwin Yearwood at 10am.

Edwin Yearwood will be performing on the opening night of the festival (June 25) along with Lord Nelson, Edwin Yearwood, Lejah Band featuring Blade & Byke, Biggie Irie, Nu Vybes Band, The Grand Masters Band and Mavado.

Edwin Yearwood, the lead singer of Krosfyah, remains the only Barbadian to claim Party monarch, Road Monarch and Calypso King titles in the same year.

Not surprisingly, he has performed in St. Lucia for Nelson Mandela.

Yearwood continues to entertain and mesmerize crowds with his remarkable voice known to many through songs like ‘Wet Me’ and ‘Pump Me Up.’

This Bajan singer is a natural born entertainer whose accolades and songwriting genius establish him as the undisputed Soca King.

Yearwood or, as his band mates affectionately call him, "General" is a mighty talent. His intimate relationship with melodies and lyrics manifests itself in a creation of hit songs that are the very essence of Krosfyah.  His music has rocked the hips and soothed the souls of Krosfyah supporters worldwide.

Yearwood, who writes most of the band’s music, says that, "My music comes from the soul. I tend to put a lot of feeling behind what I write and what I record because it means a lot to me."

The Bajan singer, who started writing songs since age 12, says that he doesn't plan to stop performing or making music anytime soon because Soca music still needs a lot of soldiers to push the music across. His passion is to see Soca music respected globally and not just in the Caribbean.

The Soca chief recently signed a six-album deal with VP Records. The first album off of the deal, Next To You, was released in February and includes collaborations with the likes of Lady Saw, Bunji Garlin, Morgan Heritage and CeCile.

It is PEP Radio’s pleasure to present Edwin Yearwood to you live at 10a.m.  Stay tuned for what is guaranteed to be an exciting interview.
