WeDrive and partners to host July 29th 'Breakfast In Schools' fundraiser!

Press Release

Sandy Point, St. Kitts: For many kids, summer vacation comes with a thrill of anticipation. Weeks stretch ahead filled with dreams of bike rides, visits to the beach, family vacations and long, lazy days hanging out with friends. For hundreds of kids in St. Kitts however, it is a much different story. For kids living in low-income families struggling to put food on the table, summer’s bright promise has been replaced with worry, anxiety and the threat of hunger.

'WeDrive' with the aid of like minded organizations such as Pride Sports Ltd, on Saturday 29th July, will kick off what promises to be a series of fundraising initiatives in the Sandy Point community geared towards supporting it's 'Breakfast In Schools' program for kids struggling with hunger by hosting it's second special 'Walk & Run' event.

"The route doubles as a an opportunity for supporters to register their daily dose of cardio as we walk briskly to Lamberts Village and back to Sandy Point, while also creating the much needed awareness for the cause" said Xuxa Garroden- Founder of the WeDrive organization

The breakfast meals program at the Sandy Point Primary School was initially created to help students get nourishment when school is in session, however as this is not a issue unique to specific communities it is hoped that such programs could be adopted federally with early morning meals becoming available to kids at sites around the country, including all schools, faith-based programs and community centers, not only when school is in session but during the holiday seasons as well. This program is a lifeline for kids in need.

Together, WeDrive and it's partners are working to overcome these barriers, and encouraging effective, efficient policies that would make sure all kids are getting the healthy food they need, in particular 'breakfast' the most important meal of anyone's day. To date the Foundation has benefited in excess of twenty five low income families in the St. Anne's community, with plans for expanding it's reach within the near future.

"We know the impact hunger can have on children and families. When school meals disappear, kids experience anxiety and uncertainty and family budgets are stretched even further,” said one Pride Sports Ltd official

"The breakfast in schools program provides a critical resource to these children, but far too many kids are missing out on the chance to have a healthy meal every day. Which is why we are happy to support such a worthy cause, starting with registering a number of our players for the Walk!" continued the Pride Sports Ltd rep.
