First Male Graduate from former Sandy Point High School to Enter “Sixth Form”, Mr. Stanford Lewis, to be Honoured at 2017 Awards Gala

    July 25th, 2017 -- Reflecting on its legacy of supporting the Charles E, Mills Secondary School, Sandy Point Benevolent Society is proud to recognize Stanford Lewis, the very first male student to graduate from the Sandy Point High School and attend the Sixth Form at the Basseterre High School.

     

    Stanford Lewis grew up in Half Way Tree, St. Kitts as a humble and unassuming young man, yet adventurous, with an inquisitive mind. At an early age he was in awe of scientific inventions and was notably exceptional in math. This year, SPBS is showcasing his achievements, passion, writing and professional experience.
     
    Stan as he is affectionately known attended Middle Island Primary School before being transferred to the Fourth Form of the Sandy Point High School when the school opened in 1966. After two years, he graduated and attended Sixth Form at the Basseterre High School. Leaving school, he was employed as a teacher at the Basseterre High School before joining Cable and Wireless in 1973 as a Telegraph Operator. Stan left St. Kitts in 1978 to pursue a lifelong ambition of becoming an engineer and in pursuit of his dream, earned an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology, a B.Sc, in Electrical Engineering and a M. Sc. Degree in Telecommunications. He is a 32 year retired veteran AT&T Labs engineer where he holds several patents and was System Engineer, Lead Engineer and Senior Technical Architect. He is currently owner and CEO of Global Tech Consulting, is a consultant with Aricent and AT&T, and a Systems Engineering Executive with SysLogic Tech. Stan has mentored numerous high school students, junior engineers and was the founder and chairman of the Sandy Point Ex-students Association, the first of its kind and the author of three books: “Native Pride National Passion”, “Nothing But Time” and ” Things Left Behind”-  books about life and the cultural legacy of St. Kitts-Nevis.
