PLP’s Constituency Three Branch fundraising breakfast on Saturday August 12

By: Peter Ngunjiri, Press Release

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, August 10, 2017 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- Deputy Chairperson of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) Constituency Number Three (West Basseterre) Branch, Mr Eugene Dias is saying that the constituency’s health is its wealth. In support of this he is inviting everyone to their fundraising breakfast to be held on Saturday August 12.

“The fundraising breakfast is to help our constituency grow and so that it can support people with their health and well-being,” said Mr Dias on Wednesday evening August 9 after branch executive members held a final preparation meeting at the Team Unity Headquarters at the corner of Cayon and Fort Street in Basseterre.

This breakfast will be held at the Best Buy parking lot in West Basseterre, starting at 6:00 am. He explained that although this will be the first fundraising breakfast that they are organising, members have in fact done it before. They held a successful breakfast on Saturday July 29 on the lawns of the lower West Farm Project in the constituency.

“That breakfast had been prepared by our members under the direction of our Chairperson Senator the Hon Akilah Byron-Nisbett,” observed Mr Dias. “It was hailed for being healthy by our Prime Minister and PLP’s National Political Leader Dr the Hon Timothy Harris for fulfilling its purpose of rewarding and sustaining those participants who took part in the last PLP/PM’s Health Walk.”

Mr Dias said that the members will be drawing upon that experience to ensure that they have put out a healthy breakfast that will appeal to all partaking of it. At the meeting on Wednesday they ensured that all who are expected to provide an item or items for the breakfast are ready.

He said that the menu would include salt fish, buttered fillet fish, sausages, boiled eggs, seasoned coconut, jonny cakes, potatoes fritters, pumpkin fritters, and eggplant. As for drinks available, he mentioned ginger beer, lemonade, moringa juice, fruit punch, bush tea, and water. Fruits on offer will be water melons and star apple.

“We will start at six, so that people passing to go to work about that time can stop by and purchase breakfast too,” noted Mr Dias. “Whatever we have we will offer. We want people to invite a friend, invite a neighbour, or just bring people along so that we can make the breakfast a success.”

Mr Dias concluded: “The purpose of holding the breakfast is to raise funds to assist those with particular needs in our constituency like people who have a wheelchair we will provide a wheelchair ramp, people who need assistance like paying small medical bills we will try to help in whatever way we can. We just pray and hope all goes well in the name of the Lord, and our supporters and other people will come out and support our breakfast and in doing so help those who need extra help.”
