David Robinson passes

Press Release

    August 16th, 2017 -- Nevis Historical and Conservation Society’s (NHCS) first Executive Director, David Richard Robinson passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, August 6th at his beloved ancestral home in Sheldrake, NY.   

     

    Mr. David Robinson, served as Executive Director for 17 years.  He retired in 2000 and served as the President and as a Board member a few years later.  He started his career as a teacher of elementary and high school students in History and English in the USA.   
     
    Mr Robinson later  became a Museology in New York State, Texas, Reginal Manager of Historic Properties for the Oklahoma Historical Society, Oklahoma City, Barbados and Nevis for over 35 years in that field. During his career he gained a Bachelor and two Master Degrees and was awarded the McFarlan Environment Award for the entire Caribbean in 2000.  
     
    In 2000, the society published a 69-page book entitled The Natural History of the Island of Nevis, edited by David Robinson and Jennifer Lowery.  He has written many articles, conducted workshops and was successful in obtaining many grants for various projects for the NHCS.  He had a passion for the history and heritage and the work of the Society and for the beloved Nevis his second home.
