    Basseterre, St. Kitts, 4th, November, 2005  Recognition awards for those who have played an important role in developing the tourism industry on St. Kitts,  will be the highlight of the 6th day of Tourism Week 2005.  The annual St. Kitts Tourism Awards Banquet, to be held on Saturday 5th November, will also feature a prominent representative in the industry, to deliver an address.
     
    Chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO), Hon. Pamela Richards, has accepted the invitation by the Ministry of Tourism, Sports & Culture to deliver the feature address at this year's function.  Ms Richards is Commissioner of Tourism for the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) and is respected across the region for the role she has played over recent months in forging a partnership between the CTO and the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA). During the Banquet awards will be bestowed on individuals and institutions that have excelled in their field and in developing the industry over the past year.  Some of the awards include: hotel, restaurant, primary school and taxi operator of the year.  
     
    Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports & Culture, the Hon. Richard Skerritt, in speaking to the importance of the ceremony said, "the Ministry of Tourism, Sports & Culture, appreciates the hard work of the stakeholders within the industry and demonstrates this annually by setting aside an evening during Tourism Week, to say thank you to our partners in our growing industry". 
     
    The Ministry of Tourism, Sports & Culture and the St. Kitts Tourism Authority are responsible for coordinating the annual Tourism Week.
