BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, October 8, 2017 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- Former title holders in the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition, Lodge Domino Club, are on a course to reclaim the title having emerged the top team when the first round of the round robin stage of the competition came to an end.

With all the fourteen teams in the 22nd edition of the annual competition having played each other, Lodge led the table standings with 69 points having won twelve of their thirteen games. Lodge stumbled on August 29 when Tabernacle narrowly beat them 13-12 at T-Vill’s Hang Out Spot in Tabernacle Village in what was then the biggest upset.

However, the biggest upset in this year’s edition of Constituency Number Seven Domino League was registered on Sunday October 1 when Small Corner beat the defending champions Unity 13-11. It was more painful for the defending champions Unity as they were beaten at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project, which is their home ground.

With that unexpected loss, and having earlier lost to Lodge, the defending champions Unity finished the first round in the second position having amassed a total of 65 points and winning eleven games.

Final two games in the first round of the round robin stage were played on Thursday evening October 5 where Small Corner met and beat Molineux 13-8 at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux, and at Shanty Bar in Saddlers where home team, Saddlers, beat Beers of Lodge Village 13-8.

The two final games were special in the sense that sponsor of the league, and Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis Dr the Hon Timothy Harris was one of the many spectators who watched the games. He initially visited Molineux and ended up at Saddlers where he was until the end of the game.

Saddlers are in the third position with 55 points from nine wins and four loses. In the fourth place are Beers with 46 points (nine wins); followed in order by Tabernacle with 44 points (seven wins); Molineux with 40 points (seven wins); Upsetters with 38 points (six wins); Unstoppable with 37 points (six wins); and Giants with 30 points (five wins).

Others are Sylver’s with 29 points (five wins); Christchurch with 26 points (four wins);  Parsons with 24 points (four wins); Small Corner with 23 points (four wins); and Guinness with 20 points (three wins).

The second round of the home-away round robin stage of Constituency Number Seven Domino League will commence on Tuesday October 10 at five different venues. In the second round the teams will meet in reserve order where a team will now travel to meet the team that came to their base during the first round.

Upsetters will meet Parsons at the Domino House in Mansion; Molineux will meet Tabernacle at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux; two games will be played at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project with Lodge facing Christchurch, and Unity facing Giants.

Other games will be between Beers and Small Corner at Bernette Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village; Saddlers will face Sylver’s at Shanty Bar in Saddlers Village; and Guinness meeting Unstoppable at Bernette Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village.

According to league organiser Calvin Farrell, all games start at 7:30 pm and he is encouraging all domino fans and friends of the players to turn up in large numbers to cheer on their favourite teams. He thanked Prime Minister Harris, who is the sponsor of the league for showing up during the last two games and for encouraging the players.

“Let me also register appreciation to our sponsor Prime Minister Harris because in the league’s 22-year history it is the first time that our players have uniforms,” said Mr Farrell. “Although some T-shirts are of the same colour, the name of the team is clearly written in bold letters on the front and spectators will not have problems identifying the team they are supporting.”
