BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, December 5, 2017 (PLP PR Media Inc.) -- In a most dramatic fashion last evening (Monday December 4), Unstoppable Domino Club came from behind and stopped hot favourite Sylver’s 13-7 in the solitary semi-final game of ‘the best of the rest’ in the 22nd edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition.

Having achieved that feat at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux, Unstoppable will now meet Christchurch Domino Club for a one-off final game to be held tomorrow (Wednesday December 6) at the same venue starting from 7:00 pm.

Christchurch had secured a slot in the finals of ‘the best of the rest’ on Wednesday evening November 29 via a bye when they returned the best results of the two knockout games held at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project after downing Guinness 13-7. In the other game, Unstoppable had beaten Small Corner Bar 13-9.

Coming back to last night’s (Monday December 4) game, Sylver’s who were the top seeded team in ‘the best of the rest’ segment of the 22nd edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition, came off fighting from the front initially leading 4-1 giving an early notice that they were going to stop Unstoppable in their tracks.

But as it turned out, Unstoppable players who exhibited a cool game and not even changing positions on the tables unlike Sylver’s who kept on shifting players’ positions on both the tables, quickly grabbed a point and trailed 4-2. Sylver’s went up by one, and Unstoppable pulled one back, and the seesaw had the game moving to 7-4 in favour of Sylver’s.

With nothing to lose but to win, Unstoppable put their feet down with Delroy ‘Beard Man’ Liburd, who was at this time not at the tables, acting as their cheerleader - and he did the job with aplomb. But what they did not envision was the fact that by putting their feet down so hard, the effect was that they ended up paralysing Sylver’s who did not earn any other point.

Trailing 4-7, the cool Unstoppable players upped their game and hit a double to move the scores to 6-7. They leapfrogged with yet another double to bring the game to 8-7 in their favour. They scored a point that took the scores to 9-7, and as Beard Man was celebrating, they scored yet another double to bring the game to 11-7 in their favour.

The last two points were scored individually, and before the scorer could find his chalk, Unstoppable Domino Club was 13-7 and the game was theirs. They are now mentally preparing on how to deal with Christchurch tomorrow (Wednesday December 6) in the one-off final for ‘the best of the rest’ at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux.

In the meantime, tonight (Tuesday December 5) is the big day for the 22nd edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition, which as the name suggests is sponsored by the Area Parliamentary Representative and Prime Minister of the Federation, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.

The finals of the 2017 league will be starting at 7:00 pm where defending champion Unity Domino Club will be facing it off with the top finisher in the round robin stage of the league, and former champion, Lodge Domino Club.

Tonight will see the first of the best of three finals, and they will return to the same venue on Thursday December 7 for the second of the best of three finals. Whichever team that will have earned straight wins will be declared the 2017 Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League champion, but a third game could come into play if none scores two straight wins.
