BASSETERRE, St. Kitts Dec. 22.17 – ANOTHER young man is reported to have sustained gunshot injuries after he came under a hail of bullets while in Shaw Avenue.

According to police reports, 25-year-old Vaughn Parris sustained multiple wounds to his leg after he was shot at.

Reports from the Police Public Relations Office, indicate that they responded to a report of a shooting incident after 9 p.m., last evening in Shaw Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found Parris of Prickly Pear Alley with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Parris was in the area when unknown assailants began shooting at him from a vehicle.  He is currently listed as being in stable condition.

The scene was processed, and a number of items were recovered and taken into police custody.

That shooting followed another in Nevis over the weekend, where a young man came under gun fire, and while running from the bullets was hit in his leg.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officials have reported the removal of another illegal weapon from the streets of St. Kitts.

During a stop and search of a west-line passenger bus on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, a Keltec pistol .40 was found on the person of Clive Francis of Newton Ground.

The police informed that he was taken into police custody and is assisting with investigations.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Terrance James commended the officers for their vigilance.

"These officers put themselves in harm's way so that the public can be safe. Having removed 45 firearms from the streets of St. Kitts and Nevis for the year so far, speaks volumes to the work they have been doing. This is no easy feat and we will not lessen our efforts to keep the country safe, especially during this Carnival season."
