In Loving Memory of Laurie Mezzalingua June 10, 1968 – July 4, 2009

Laurie Mezzalingua,Founder and President of Kajola-Kristada Ltd in St. Kitts

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Laurie Mezzalingua of Syracuse, New York.   She was the Founder and President of Kajola-Kristada Ltd in St. Kitts.

Her work here led to the Family’s involvement with the Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral and the two Catholic schools in St. Kitts. The family funded a building to house a library and learning studies programs appropriately named “The Laurie Mezzalingua Education Center”.  Further commitment resulted in the school being rebuilt and upon completion in 2011 it will have a campus with eight completed buildings together with tuition assistance.

Laurie was not only committed to members of the Kajola-Kristada family but was also committed to various charities at home.  She refocused her career to become a passionate advocate of patient support.  Her leadership skills were quickly called into action and she served for two years as the President of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in USA.  She also chaired the ‘Race for the Cure’ event on two occasions and her forceful involvement earned her the National Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Outstanding Volunteer Award.

Laurie established the Saint Agatha Foundation, named after the patroness against breast diseases.  This foundation benefits breast cancer patients “who cannot afford their illness” as she said.  This Foundation is her legacy and is funded in a way that will continue to impact lives for decades to come.

The Funeral service will be held on Friday July 10th at 10 a.m. at the Holy Cross Church in Fayetteville, New York.

The Management and Staff of Kajola-Kristada Ltd will hold an on-site Memorial Service on Friday July 10th at 2.00 p.m. and a Requiem Mass will also be held at the Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral on Monday July 13th at 7.00 p.m. in St. Kitts.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mezzalingua Family.
