Lt. Col. Comrie Receives Queen’s Commission

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts Mar. 20.2018 – NEWLY appointed head of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defense Force, Anthony Comrie today received the Queen’s Commission, paving the way for him to be Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Col.).

    According to a statement from Government House, His Excellency, the Governor General Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton presented the Commission to Comrie in the presence of Prime Minister, Dr. Timothy Harris.
     
    “You are therefore carefully and diligently to discharge your duty as an officer in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel or in such other rank as you may from time to time hereafter be promoted or appointed, and you are in such manner or on such occasions to exercise and well discipline in their duties such officers and soldiers as may be placed under your order from time to time and use your best endeavours to keep them in order and discipline.
     
    “I do hereby command all such officers and soldiers to obey you as their superior officer, and you to observe and follow such orders and directions as from time to time you shall receive from me or any of your superior officers in pursuance of the trust hereby reposed in you….,” a statement from the Government Information service quoted the Governor General as saying.
     
    According to the Government Information Service, Dr. Harris congratulated Lt. Col. Comrie on ascending to the leadership of the Defense Force.
     
    “I do wish him all the very best in service to the country in leadership of the Defense Force and I hope that this day will go down in history as a beginning of a new relationship of service of our Defense Force to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.”
     
    Lt. Col. Comrie takes over from Lt. Col. Patrick Wallace who retired from the force last month.
     
    During a February press conference, PM Harris had made the announcement, stressing that Wallace had given over 40 years yeoman service to the Federation.
