London, England (November 14, 2005): A Caribbean cocktail and rhythm party signaled high spirits at the end of a highly successful first day for the Federation's delegation at the World Travel Market in London.
The delegation, headed by Minister of Tourism Hon. Richard Skerritt, includes over twenty persons from the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, industry partners, London office staff and government information representatives. Monday's celebration marked the renewal of past contracts and propositions from new clients.
Minister Skerritt took the opportunity to present awards from Tourism Week to two outstanding clients. Tour Operator of the Year was awarded to Trail Finders, while Travel Agent of the Year was awarded to Newman Travel.
Top attractions for St. Kitts at the international forum are the Scenic Railway Tour, Old World Plantation Inns, the contemporary, luxurious resorts as well as the hosting of international cricket in 2006 and the exciting Cricket World Cup in 2007.
Resident Manager of the Ocean Terrace Inn (OTI) Peter Race revealed that he was able to start discussion of contractual arrangements on the first day. He said he expects things to pick up even more on the second day.
Zia karim Mohammed, new owner of the Ottley's Plantation Inn explained that she was amazed by the cross section of industry professionals present at the event and looks forward to the rest of the week.
Both hoteliers will attend a hotel representation seminar on Tuesday 15th.
Head of the London office Esther Smith noted her pleasure with the high-powered delegation representing the Federation this year. She said she is hopeful that there will be many more new contracts with travel agencies, airlines, and tour operators before the end of the week.
