BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- ALTHOUGH the Jamaican government has recently appointed a number of bands to censor explicit lyrics by artistes on the island, this has failed to stop some of them from being publicised including female dancehall artiste Lady Saw who earlier this month released ‘Extra Raw-The Best Of Lady Saw’.
The 18-track album captures the best of her work from her past 13 years with VP Records. According to Jahkno.com, it also features a bonus DVD with uncut and explicitly electrifying 1997 New York City stage performance as well as her biggest music videos.
Born Marion Hall and also known as the First Lady of Dancehall, Hall has had seven albums in her career. She is the first female deejay to win a Grammy Award and to be certified a triple-platinum artiste. She is also the first woman to headline dancehall shows outside her native Jamaica.
Extra Raw features production by Dave Kelly, Tony ‘CD’ Kelly, Richie D and John John of the Jammy’s camp. The tracks on the album include ‘Find a Good Man’, ‘Hice It Up’, ‘Sycamore Tree’, ‘Silly dreams’, ‘Na Nurse’, and ‘Want it Tonight’.
