SKNAAA boss pleased with CAC performance

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Aug. 01. 2018 – PRESIDENT of the St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur Athletics Association (SKNAAA), Val Henry is commending the track athletes for the outstanding performance at the 2018 Central America and Caribbean Athletics (CAC) in Barranquilla, Colombia.
     
    The federation’s athletes returned with one medal, a silver, through Jason Rogers’ brilliant performance in the finals of the Men’s 100m race.
     
    Henry told reporters today that the outstanding performance of the team was credited to the good individual preparation by the teams and the overall training by the team.
     
    In expressing his pleasure with Adams’ performance, the president explained that he is elated that the senior athlete was able to acquire a silver medal.
     
    “Jason is an athlete and he has clearly demonstrated that his out for business. The silver medal that he picked up at the CAC Games; I want to predict is just the first sign of the greatness to come from Jason going forward.”
     
    Though the federation sent a strong contingent to the games, only Rogers and Shenel Crooke were able to make last impressions on the track.
     
    Rogers was beaten by veteran Jamaican athlete, Nester Carter who clocked a time of 10.07s. Antigua and Barbuda’s Cejhae Greene took the third spot with a time of 10.16, while Rogers crossed the line in 10.15s.
     
    In commending Shenel Crooke on her performance, though she did not win a medal, the president indicated that the young female athlete is very dedicated to the trade she plies.
     
    “I think Shenel is a truly talented athlete who is very dedicated to the to the sport and is very committed to her performance standards. And looking at her perform in the finals of the 100m, I think she has a determination and effort that is going to get her in the long run; hopefully by the time the next Olympics come around, as one of the top athletes in the world,” Henry acknowledged.
     
    According to the SKNAAA boss, he has high expectations for the young athlete.

    Currently, the Athletics Association is working on a programme to further development and prepare athletes in time for the next Olympics.
     
    The association is joining forces with the Ministry of Sport to develop a comprehensive training and development programme that will better prepare athletes for the major meets.
