CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – PERSONS in the vicinity of the square opposite Solomon’s Arcade in Charlestown had a glimpse yesterday (July 30) of what to expect from the Pan Ambassadors of Montserrat.
The band of steel pan players, who are here for Culturama 35, belted out a few soulful tunes – much to the appreciation of passersby, many of whom stopped for a few moments of entertainment.
The 17-member group, consisting mostly of students, is accompanied by Montserrat’s Director of Culture Herman ‘Cupid’ Francis, who is also the island’s reigning calypso monarch, and chaperone Elizabeth Piper-Wade.
Among the appearances for the band will be the Department of Agriculture’s Fruit Festival today and the Miss Culture finals on Sunday night.
