Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 21, 2018 (SKNIS): Following on the heels of the birth of bouncing baby girl, Anais Perez, who was born on the nation’s 35th Independence Day, on September 19, 2018, at the Joseph Nathaniel France (JNF) General Hospital, another healthy baby was delivered at the health institution at 12:22 pm on the same day, this time, a boy, Dylan Abdiel Florian. His proud parents are mother, Meydelin Moria and father, Alexi Florian.

As per tradition, Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris visited the Maternity Ward of the JNF Hospital after the Independence Day Ceremonial Parade at Warner Park to greet any baby born on that day and his or her parents. This year, Prime Minister Harris, along with Minister of State with Responsibility for Health, Senator the Honourable Wendy Phipps, visited the hospital and were delighted that baby Anais Perez was delivered to Lime Kiln couple Alisha Perez and Jorge Perez at 5:07 am. At the time of the visit by the head of government and the health minister, baby Dylan Abdiel Florian had not yet been born.

Following custom, both babies will receive two presentations from the Office of the Prime Minister as part of the Independence celebrations.

While at the hospital, Prime Minister Harris said he wished to see more involvement by fathers in their children’s lives while he made a symbolic gesture.

“I presented the young baby to the father because we have had too many absent fathers in the lives of our young children and so today he (Jorge Perez) is taking a stand which we would like all fathers to do and follow the example to be involved in the lives and the developing and nurturing of our young people from the very start,” the Prime Minister said.
