Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 24, 2018 – A new Labour Administration will give top priority to building resilience and adapting to climate change.

Leader of the Opposition, The Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas made the commitment Tuesday as he expressed sympathy to the Government and People of Trinidad following the recent flooding disaster.

“My heart goes out to Trinidad and Tobago in the wake of the devastating floods that have left thousands of people displaced and stranded,” Douglas said during his weekly radio programme “Ask the Leader” on Kyss 102.5 FM.

Dr. Douglas said he stands “in solidarity with the government and people of Trinidad and Tobago during this very difficult time.”

“The extreme weather event that caused the flooding reminds us about the seriousness of climate change,” Dr. Douglas said.

“Building resilience and adapting to climate change will be a top priority to a new Labour administration,” said Dr. Douglas.
