    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 22ND 2005 
    St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas was among Caribbean leaders who met Tuesday in a working lunch with Britain's Prime Minister the Right Hon. Tony Blair.
    The Caribbean leaders are in Europe to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Malta at the end of the week.
     
    According to the Website of Britain's Prime Minister, Mr. Blair and the Caribbean Prime Ministers and President talked about trade, security, and the UK-Caribbean relationship. They also discussed the Cricket World Cup in 2007, which is being held in the West Indies. Mr Blair last met this group on December 2nd 2003.
     
    The St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister and CARICOM's lead spokesman on HIV/AIDS and other health matters was also expected to lead on the issue of HIV/AIDS and used the opportunity to express his nation's views on the closure of the sugar industry as a result of the European Union planned proposals for reform.
     
    CARICOM Chairman and St. Lucia Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Kenny Anthony was expected to make a brief presentation on Europe's Role in the World.

    Barbados Prime Minister, the Right Hon. Owen Arthur led on Economic Reform including the Doha Development Agenda and Social Justice. Jamaica Prime Minister, the Most Honourable P.J. Patterson on Africa and the Prime Minister of Belize, the Hon. Said Musa on Climate Change.


    A proposal by Canada for the Commonwealth Heads Meeting to address the issue of "The Responsibility to Protect," was also expected to be discussed with the British leader.
     
    No. 10 Downing Street said the list of attendees was: Antiguan Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer, Belize Prime Minister Said Musa, PM Perry Christie of the Bahamas, Dominica's leader Roosevelt Skerritt, Prime Minister Owen Arthur of Barbados, Dr. Keith Mitchell of Grenada, Guyana's President Bharrat Jagdeo, Dr. Denzil Douglas of St Kitts and Nevis, Jamaican Prime Minister P. J. Patterson and St. Lucia PM Dr.. Kenny Anthony.
     
    Lord Triesman and Baroness Amos were also in attendance.
