Jeneve Mills has held the post of Commonwealth Youth Ambassador since 2002.
Basseterre, St. Kitts (November 24, 2005):
Critical opinions and the ingredients of various youth programmes in St. Kitts and Nevis will continue to be presented to the Commonwealth Secretariat by Jeneve Mills.
Mills, was recently reappointed to the post of Commonwealth Youth Ambassador, after securing a vote of confidence from the Ministry of Youth and the Commonwealth Youth Programme. He has held the post since 2002.

"Serving as the Commonwealth youth representative has been very rewarding," the dedicated youth worker told SKNIS. "I am enthused by the reappointment and will continue to champion youth causes, and assist in facilitating youth development in St. Kitts and throughout the region." Mills added that he has an excellent working relationship with various stakeholders involved in youth activities and looks forward to strengthening those ties.

Communication and partnership, advocacy and representation, as well as programme development, implementation and evaluation were three priority areas identified by the youth ambassador which he intends to focus on over the next two years.

Mills is already working to achieve these goals. His membership with the National Youth Ambassadors Network (NYAN) places him on the frontlines of a project to promote awareness and combat the transmission of HIV/AIDS during the 2005-2006 Carnival season.

A troupe dubbed "Choices: Knowing is Beautiful" will participate in the Grand Carnival Parade on January 2, 2006. Four sections promoting Abstinence, Be Faithful, Condom Use and Don't Abuse Drugs and Alcohol, often referred to as the A, B, C, D prevention method, will make up the grouping. The troupe is organized by NYAN in collaboration with the Ministries of Youth and Health.

Jeneve is also a member of the local body implementing the PANCAP/CARICOM Mini-Grant Programme. This project also focuses on HIV/AIDS prevention and capacity building within young people.

A spokesman for the Department of Youth disclosed that the ministry looks forward to continued collaboration with Mr. Mills and other parties concerned with youth development
