Juvenile charged with attempted murder

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – The juvenile believed to have committed a recent throat-slashing incident has been arrested and formally charged with attempted murder.

The youngster, who is said to be 14 or 15-years-old according to information given by the police, was taken into custody on Monday (Aug. 31) following the incident which took place at Cleverly Hill, Sandy Point.

Reports indicate that Dominic Henry was at his Bourkes Project home when someone forcibly gained access through a window and launched an attack on him.  By the end of the onslaught, Henry was seriously injured with stab wounds about his body and face, and a slashed throat.

He was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment for his wounds and a collapsed lung.  He was admitted to the hospital in serious condition, but SKNVibes understands that he has now been upgraded to stable condition.

Inspector Cromwell Henry, Press and Public Relations Officer (PRO) to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, indicated to this media house that the alleged assailant was charged yesterday (Sept. 3).  He said however, he does not know if additional charges would be brought against him, as he said “investigations are ongoing and I don’t know where they will lead”.

As is the custom, the lad is expected to be taken before the court and the likelihood exists that he would be remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.

The PRO informed that an adult has also been taken into custody in relation to this incident and is “assisting with investigations”

Persons bearing information relative to this incident are reminded that they can assist officers at the Sandy Point Police Station anytime by calling 465-6261.  Conditions of anonymity and confidentiality are still applicable.
