CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THE first fund-raising Noo to Yoo sale organised by the Pink Lily Cancer Awareness foundation has been described as a major success. The sale, held at the Cotton Ginnery mall on August 29, raised $1 389 in a matter of a few hours.

Customers were reportedly lined up as early as 7:30 a.m., anxious to get first crack at the wide range of items for sale when the ‘boutique’ opened at 8:00 a.m.

Visitors included cricket legend Elquemedo Willett, Advisor in the Ministry of Health Patsy Hanley and Mount Nevis chef Vincente Zaragaro.

Pink Lily volunteers transformed the area upstairs the Cotton Ginnery into an attractive and inviting boutique with subtle music and friendly sales assistants. Noo to Yoo signs and swimsuits were placed on the overhead beams and display rails, hanging shelves and mannequins tastefully placed around the walkway and overhead.

One table displayed a colourful range of shoes, hats, belts and handbags while another had a selection of books, magazines, puzzles, ornaments and jewellery, and a third table displayed a variety of Avon products. The spiral rails were adorned with an assortment of new and nearly-new quality ladies dresses, tops, skirts, pants and suits and a variety of men’s silk shirts, cotton shirts, jeans, shorts and dress pants.

The prices were amazing and the quality was high. Shoes were sold between $15 and $25, while clothing ranged between $15 for a fashion top to $50 for a two-piece suit. Books sold from $5 for a paperback and $10 for hardback.

The new and nearly-new items were donated to help raise funds for Pink Lily and the proceeds from the Noo to Yoo sales will go to the foundation’s efforts at cancer care and awareness on Nevis.

According to Pink Lily founder and Director Lea Parris-Cambridge, among those who helped to make the first in a proposed series of sales a success were Carol Cochrane, Nevis Laundromat, Four Seasons Resort, The Change Centre, Island Hopper, T.C Tours, Patsy Hanley, Donnette Dyer and Nevis Life Boutique.

She also said that the donations, volunteers and the patronage help Pink Lily to provide its services free to clients and provide the much needed help in raising awareness of cancer, offering support to patients and their families and providing quality cancer care.
