BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - JUST days after enduring a traumatic ordeal, Kenrick ‘Ricky’ Isaac, proprietor of The Lantern, awoke this morning (Sept. 14) to find his establishment broken into and vandalised.

In an exclusive interview with SKNVibes, Isaac explained that he received a telephone call from a close friend who indicated that he had received information concerning a break-in at The Lantern, Millard Street, Sandy Point.

“At about 5:15 this morning, I got a call from a close friend and he told me he got a call from someone who said they saw a masked man running from the business. I was already up so I went to the business and realised the door which leads to the inside was open. It’s a double door and one part was pushed in.”

The entrepreneur further explained that he did not venture inside the establishment but rather journeyed to the proximate Sandy Point Police Station where he summoned assistance.

“I went back to the establishment with two officers and when we entered, I realised that the door for the entrance to the bar was off its hinges and leaning against the bar. The door weighs about 100 pounds. We went onto the compound and on entering I started smelling something (foul). I met some drinks missing, drawers emptied and I also met some human faeces on the floor.”

He said the officers requested a statement from him which he gave willingly.

Just Friday evening (Sept. 11), Isaac, while disembarking his vehicle to enter his home, was approached by three masked and heavily armed men who, according to police, robbed him of his wallet which contained an undisclosed sum of money. SKNVibes understands that the man and his son were bound with duct tape in their home during the ordeal but managed to escape without injury.

When asked if he thinks both incidents are related, Isaac said, “No I don’t. I think it’s unrelated.  I think it’s just someone who knows I am down emotionally at this point and wanted to kick while am down…so to speak.  But they will not get that to work.”

SKNVibes contacted the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Cromwell, concerning the incident but he did not entertain any question because of his attendance at a meeting at the time.

Isaac indicated that he is looking into measures he could employ to better protect himself, his family and his business.
