BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Federation’s security forces continue in their effort to crack down on illegal activities with the most recent occurring during the early hours of Tuesday, September 15.

A police-issued communiqué informs that between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on that day, members of the Drug Unit, the Special Services Unit, the Anti-Gang Unit and the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force executed five search warrants in the Newtown and McKnight areas in search of illegal substances, arms and ammunition.

The police report informs that although nothing was found in satisfaction of the warrants, “A quantity of marijuana and several masks, gloves, vehicle licence plates, duct tape, tie straps, dark clothing and a hooded jacket were found in Newtown at unoccupied premises.”

All items were taken into custody and investigations are ongoing. However, the police indicate that no one has been held accountable for the find.

In addition to that operation, members of the Special Service Unit journeyed to Bouncing Hill, Sandy Point, where they conducted operations that led to them finding in excess of 300 marijuana plants on an empty plot of land.

The plants reportedly range in height from two feet to six feet. While investigations into that matter are ongoing, no one has been held answerable for that offence.
