Basseterre, St. Kitts - AS St. Kitts-Nevis gets ready to celebrate its 26th Independence Anniversary, nationals residing in Atlanta will be celebrating their nation’s birthday with an Independence Gala on Saturday, September 19.

The event is being organised by the St. Kitts/Nevis Atlanta Association and will take place at the Grand Ball Room of the Perimeter Center, Marriott from 8:00 p.m.

According to a release out of Atlanta, the event would also feature the newly-crowned Leeward Islands Calypso King, Konris Maynard, who is also the National Calypso Monarch of the Federation after winning the title four consecutive times.

SKNVibes PEP contacted Maynard, who in a brief comment said, “It’s always a pleasure to represent my Federation, especially among other nationals. I was there last year and we had a wonderful time, and I am honored that they have invited me back.”

The evening’s festivities will also include limbo dancing, fire-eating, poetry-reading, a masquerade performance and the soulful voice of recording artiste Julian Brazier. It is scheduled to climax with a jam session with Kittitian-born DJ Choice-One, the number one DJ in Atlanta.
