Press Release
Employees from the TDC Group of Companies, LIME, and Delisle Walwyn and Company Limited took to the pavement for the second Annual Wellness Walk on Wednesday 16th September 2009to jointly promote healthy lifestyles.

The trek started at The Circus and made its way along the Bay Road, northward to the Cenotaph, on to Wigley Avenue to the Dr. William Connor Primary School, then westward taking Buckley’s Estate and up to Olivees.

The over ninety (90) plus walkers then followed Shadwell Estate along the newly constructed West Basseterre By Pass Road, onto the Kim Collins Highway, onto Bird Rock Road, then along the Bay Road and finishing at The Circus, which was the starting pointing.

Mr. Dennis Knight, TDC Human Resources Manager, spoke of the importance of the activity and underscored the need for workers to make physical well-being, especially when maintained or achieved through good diet and regular exercise as a way of life.

“Today’s business environment demands more from its employees, even with the advancement in technology and in order to keep up we must have some form of physical activity as part of our lifestyle. Generally, employees who eat well and exercise regular will undoubtedly sharpen their critical thinking levels, improve productivity and promotes longevity,” stated Knight

The idea to organize and implement a Corporate Wellness Walk was a spinoff from the 2008 Declaration by Regional Heads of Government instituting CARICOM Wellness Day, which is officially observed on 13th September 2009.
