Basseterre, St. Kitts: September 24, 2009 – The St. Kitts Tourism Authority has issued a call to the general public for submissions of nominations for the 2009 National Tourism Awards.
The call by the St.Kitts Tourism Authority was issued as part of the process for the selection of awards for individual and organizations to be made at the 9th Annual Tourism Awards Banquet which is scheduled to be held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort on Saturday 24th October.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of the St.Kitts Tourism Authority Mrs Rosecita Jeffers, the awards ceremony is a celebration of the outstanding contributions to the St. Kitts tourism product development effort.
“The Awards Banquet recognizes excellence within the various tourism sub-sectors over a 12 month period,” Mrs Jeffers said. “It is truly a celebration of the industry over the past year.” Jeffers went on to add that the awards will be given out to deserving service providers in various categories including Hotel of the Year, Most Creative Business, Outstanding Cruise Partner, Most Eco-Friendly Business, Restaurant of the Year, Taxi Awards Service and Steward of our Heritage.
The Tourism Awards Banquet is one of the highlights of the St; Kitts Tourism Month, bringing together industry leaders and professionals in recognition of their outstanding efforts in the various tourism sector businesses on the island.
The awards ceremony is part of the effort by the St. Kitts Tourism Authority to raise service standards in the island’s hospitality industry. It is also a means of encouraging service providers to become more creative as they seek to enhance the visitor experience and the distinct flavour of the Kittitian tourism product.
The general public is being encouraged to make submissions of their nominees for these awards before October 2nd. Nominations forms can be obtained at the St.Kitts Tourism Authority’s office at the Pelican Mall. Each entry must be accompanied with an explanation for their choice of nominees.
