BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE promoter for an upcoming show in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) has declared that the event scheduled for next month featuring Bounty Killer and Vybz Kartel would be strictly musical.

Bounty Killer, who is the leader of the Alliance of the Gully side, and Vybz Kartel, leader of the rival side - Portmore Empire - from the Gaza, are known for their ongoing lyrical feud which is said to be the trigger of many fuelling gang wars among their fans.

According to riddimjamaica.net, the promoter of Jacho Entertainment was quoted as saying at a press conference held in Trinidad that “although the Jamaican entertainers have long been in a musical war, they are coming to T&T as a symbol of unity”.

He further stated that “the idea of bringing these artistes for a concert in Trinidad is to show the youths that at the end of the day the artistes are entertainers. They have agreed to put aside their differences to promote peace”.

He pointed out that the feud between the artistes is purely a lyrical one, so there is no need for concert goers to be concerned. He further stated that lyrical battles have always been a part of Jamaica’s reggae culture as well as other genres of music, including Hip Hop, Rap, “as well as our very own Calypso, Soca and Extempo”.

“We have been able to do what Jamaican promoters have been trying to do for some time now, which is to have these two talented artistes perform on the same stage. We have accomplished it for the sake of peace, and the artistes will perform on the same stage at one of the biggest concerts to be held in this country. This has never happened in Jamaica,” the promoter said, adding, “This is the beginning of a change of what concerts should look like.”

Macka Diamond and a list of T&T artistes are also scheduled to rock patrons at the event.
