CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – YESTERDAY (Sept. 24) was graduation and prize giving day at the Gingerland Secondary School. Deputy Governor-General, His Excellency Eustace John and Junior Minister of Communication and Works Hon. Carlisle Powell were among government officials who joined students, parents and staff at the annual ceremony in the school’s auditorium.

Valedictorian was Trevorne Nisbett, who encouraged his fellow graduands to continue working wonders and to take the good morals they learnt in school into their future endeavours. Nisbett had a lot of praise to share out, firstly to God and his teachers all the way from primary school. He thanked the teachers at Gingerland Secondary for what he described as their hard work and sacrifices made on weekends and holidays in the face of stress offered by the students. He had special praise for parents, especially his mother, for making him feel as if he was the best gift ever given to her.

Pastor Euclid Lawrence gave the key note address and remind the graduands that this is just a next step in life and they should remain focused and never give up.

Principal Dawn Jeffers congratulated the graduands and other students on their achievements during her report. She thanked the Nevis Island Administration and everyone else who helped to make the school year a success. Special congratulations went to Trevorne Nisbett for his all-round outstanding performance.

Various awards were presented to the graduating class along with other students in the school.  The Premier’s Award was presented to students who passed six or more CXC subjects. Other awards were made by various businesses and private individuals along with Hon. Powell and Minister of Agriculture Hon. Robelto Hector.

The ceremony, held under the patronage of Nurse Lorraine Archibald, was chaired my media personality Eric Evelyn.
