    KINGSTON, Jamaica - JAMAINCAN singing legend Jimmy Cliff was announced on Wednesday (Sept. 23) as one of the nominees for the 25th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. 
     
    The other nominees include ABBA, Darlene Love, Donna Summer, Genesis, KISS, Laura Nyro, LL Cool J, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Chantels, The Hollies, and The Stooges.
     
    According to dancehallusa.com, the five artistes with the most votes would be announced on January 2010, while their induction ceremony would take place on March 15, 2010 at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan, New York City. 
     
    To be eligible for nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. Thus, this year’s nominees had to release their first single no later than 1984. Ballots will be sent to more than 500 voters, who will make their selections for artistes to be inducted.
     
    Jimmy Ciff is one of Jamaican’s Ska and Reggae singer, musician and actor. He is the only currently living musician to hold the Order of Merit, the highest honor that can be granted by the Jamaican government for achievement in the arts and sciences.  
     
    He is known for hits such as ‘Sitting in Limbo’, ‘You can Get It If You Really Want’, The Harder They Come’, Many Rivers to Cross’ and ‘I Can See Clearly Now’.
