BVI Press Release
B.V.I. Monday, September 28 – Chief of Drugs and Pharmaceutical Services Ms. Gracia Wheatley is alerting consumers and businesses in the Territory about a recent recall of children’s and infants’ Tylenol preparations.

She said the makers of Tylenol have voluntarily recalled particular lots of the liquid medication that were manufactured between April 2008 and June 2008. “This is because one of the inactive ingredients did not meet all quality standards,” noted Ms. Wheatley.

The Chief of Drugs and Pharmaceutical Services said the Ministry is asking parents who may have purchased any Tylenol preparations for their children to check the lot number to verify if they are included in the recalled products.

“The lot number is located on the bottom of the box that contains the liquid medication, as well as on product label on the bottle. Consumers who may have any of the recalled medication in their homes should discard them and not administer it to their children,” she added.

Pharmacies and other business establishments that may have these products on their shelves or in their inventory are being asked to remove them, place them in quarantine, and contact their suppliers for further information.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development aspires to provide leadership that promotes health, social wellbeing, and a safe environment as positive resources for living and sustainable development of the Virgin Islands.
