Lucky Dube’s band back on track after two years of leader’s death

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SINCE his passing in 2007, Lucky Dube’s band, One People, had not performed in public and will now be doing so with a tour dubbed “Dube Celebration Tour” scheduled for this year. 
     
    The tour will start in the South Pacific and will be followed by the start of their World Tour in early 2010. The band members are Richard Sekgobela, Isaac T.O. Moloantoa, Joel Klein, Andile Nqubezelo, Tonique Letta Phala,Thandi Bellina Radebe, Gabisile Mdluli, Bafana Khuzwayo, Doods Motlatsi Molefi and Thuthukani Cele who will take Dube’s role of lead vocalist. 
     
    Since its inception and during Lucky Dube’s leadership, the band had performed in numerous major festivals in South Africa and received standing ovations after each performance. The band has also recently collaborated with the renowned Freshly Ground and Kwela Tembza on a tribute to Lucky Dube at Sun City.
     
    Dube was South Africa's biggest selling reggae artiste and had recorded 22 albums in Zulu, English and Afrikaans in a 25-year period. He was murdered in the Johannesburg suburb of Rosettenville. 
     
    In addition to performing music, Lucky Dube was a part-time actor, appearing in the feature films ‘Voice In The Dark’, ‘Getting Lucky’ and ‘Lucky Strikes Back’.
