    B.V.I. Thursday, October 1 – Minister for Natural Resources and Labour Hon. Omar W. Hodge is encouraging residents to make safe pesticide management a way of life to be practiced year round.
     
    His remarks are part of his message for Pesticides Awareness Week 2009 which is being observed from September 27 - October 3 under the theme, ‘Improving Pesticide Management through Public Education and Participation’.
     
    “Improving pesticide management must be a way of life.  We must make the protection of human health and the environment the absolute priority in our pest and disease management decisions,” Hon. Hodge said.
     
    “We cannot prevent the use of pesticides and toxic chemical in our country but we can ensure that they are utilized and managed wisely to safe-guard human health, our natural resources and our environment, while enhancing our economic development,” the Natural Resources Minster further stated.
     
    The public is invited to tune in to the minster’s message airing on local TV stations JTV Channel 55 and CBN Channel 51, at various times on all local radio stations and online at www.bviwebtv.com.
