Press Release
Road Town, Tortola, VI, September 2009: After ten (10) consecutive years of giving, the group known throughout the Virgin Islands for its generosity to worthy causes has done it yet again.  Capital Productions, the group responsible for organizing the BVI Official August Festival Car Show and Exhibition has honoured its charity commitment by making a donation from its first ever Love, Peace & Unity concert.

On Friday 11th September 2009 the group handed over a cheque to Ms. Judith Charles, Board of Directors President of the Family Support Network, the only agency in the Virgin Islands dedicated to intervention, and counseling in regards to domestic violence.  In accepting the cheque Ms. Charles said she was very grateful to Capital Productions for their generosity and that the funds will go towards supporting the agency’s mission.  However, she appealed to other groups and all citizens to get involved in eliminating domestic violence as this serious crime continues to increase in the Virgin Islands.

Capital Productions also handed over two more cheques to the Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary School and the Althea Scatliffe Primary School. Principal of the Althea Scatliffe Primary School, Gordon Callender said he was yet again thankful to Capital Productions as every year they are very kind to his school.  Mr. Callender said that the money would be used to purchase sports equipment and to upgrade a class room for special needs students. Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary School Principal Gladys Scatliffe also echoed similar sentiments of gratitude and said that the money will be used to purchase software for computers at her school and thanked Capital Productions for its generous financial support over the many years.

Also on hand for the donations were two artistes who performed at the well timed Love, Peace & Unity Concert, Desiree and Maccabee, along with Capital Productions members, David A. Abednego, Julien  N. Johnson, Ingrid A. Moses-Scatliffe, David D. Archer and Julian Willock.

    10 Years Of Giving
Over the past ten years Capital Productions has donated (including combined efforts), some eighty thousand dollars ($80,000), to local charities. The greatest portions of the funds have been raised from the annual Official August Festival Car Show and Exhibition, which was postponed this year due to the global economic challenges.

New Chairman of Capital Productions, David A. Abednego said that “while the organization continues to value and appreciate the hard work of the car owners and were delighted with the star performances of our VI artistes this year, the most satisfaction for the group comes from our ability to give back to the community through charities as the needs are overwhelming”.  He also thanked all partners, sponsors, artistes, media houses and the public who supported the concert in which local VI artistes were featured.

The 2010 Car Show and Exhibition is scheduled for Saturday 31st July at the Softball Field located in Long Bush, Road Town and the group will be making a big announcement next month.  For more information on Capital Productions you can e-mail the group at sugarapplegroup@gmail.com  or call David at 494-1345/1733.
