Premier Parry ask Nationals to Foster the Ties that Bind

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS- MONDAY, October 5th, 2009) Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry has called on nationals and friends to continue to foster the ties that bind St. Kitts and Nevis and North America. He made the statement at the St. Kitts and Nevis Cultural Association of Montreal 39th Anniversary and the 26th year of Independence of St. Kitts and Nevis Dinner Dance at the Cote De Neiges Community Center on Saturday, September 26th in Montreal, Canada.
“We are doing many things at home such as geothermal exploration, financial services and expanding tourism. We welcome all nationals of Nevis to be a part of the growth. If you are not able to be a part of it, you must make sure that your children are a part of it!”
Mr. Parry told the audience that as development evolves in Nevis, nationals should come home and invest in the land of their birth.
“Back in the 50s, 60s and 70s many of the island’s residents felt that they had to leave Nevis for a better standard of living…today that is not the case as things have improved greatly under this administration,” remarked Premier Parry.
According to the Premier, the introduction of geothermal energy will mean tremendous things for Nevis as well as St. Kitts! Cheap energy, clean energy and increased employment are ahead for the two islands of the Federation.
While touching on crime, the Nevisian leader informed the audience that it is very important that parents keep a strong hold on their young men and become strong parents, while focusing on the social side of things.
“In the Federation recently, people have blamed crime on the politicians. That is very wrong as crime is crime. Crime is not Labour crime, it is not CCM crime, it is not NRP Crime, it is not PAM crime. Crime is crime and it affects all of us!”
Mr. Parry concluded that the Federation has just celebrated 26 years of Independence and over the years, St.Kitts-Nevis has come a very long way. “We have come through hurricanes, economic storms and other outstanding challenges. I ask all of you to work along with St. Kitts-Nevis even as you reside in Canada in order to make our twin island nation the strongest that it can be!”
